Poor turnout at anti-India event in Canada:-

The much-hyped 'Shutdown Indian Missions' call given by the terror organization Sikh For Justice (SFJ) was pooh-poohed when only a handful of pro-Khalistan Sikhs gathered outside the Indian Mission and Consulates in Canada on Monday. Sources in Canada suggest that the young Sikh migrants, who are still on work permits or study visas, had been previously influenced by Khalistani elements refrained from attending anti-India gatherings due to concerns about potential repercussions especially after India's resolute stance against the Canadian government and pro-Khalistan Sikhs and organisations, including SFJ.

The latest diplomatic row between India and Canada is not going to impact the ongoing bilateral military engagement and the matter has to be resolved at the political level, Canada's Deputy Army Chief Major General Peter Scott said on Tuesday. Scott is leading a Canadian delegation at the Indo-Pacific Army Chiefs' Conference (IPACC) here that is being attended by military delegations from over 30 countries.

US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti has reiterated that the United States cares deeply about its relationship with both India and Canada. Garcetti's comments on Tuesday come amidst heightened tensions between India and Canada after Canadian PM Justin Trudeau alleged that there was an Indian hand behind killing of Khalistani operative Hardeep Nijjar.
